Islamic Center of Riverside

The Islamic Center of Riverside is the oldest purpose built masjid in the Inland Empire area in California. Designed by architect Shakil Patel and built in 1979 the masjid offers many programs and services to the community year round. Friday jumma prayers attract over 1,000 worshipers every week. The masjid is a member of the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California. The site, close to the University of California Riverside campus, was chosen to enable the masjid to serve university students as well as the wider community. Along with more than 20 other "Islamic Centers" in California, the masjid holds annual open house offering Californians an opportunity to learn more about Islam. The masjid is has a very strong and close working relationship with its neighbors, the local community leaders, public officials and known for its interfaith efforts with an welcoming atmosphere
