Hazrat Shahjalal Mazar

Hazrat Shahjalal. A famous Sufi dervish of the Indian subcontinent. His full name is Sheikh Shah Jalal Kuniyat Mujarrad. . It is believed that he came to the Sylhet region of present-day Bangladesh with the aim of propagating Islam at the age of 32 in 1303 AD according to 703 Hijri.

Shah Jalal after the victory of Sylhet. Many pir-dervishes from among the companions and their descendants went to live in different parts of Bangladesh including Sylhet. The arrival of Shahjalal's 360 auliyas in Sylhet is a significant event in history. After his death he was buried in Sylhet.
