AL-Rasheed Academy

AL-Rasheed Academy is the first & only Islamic school in Lackawanna New York. The School was established in order to provide a stable Islamic environment that supports the proper understanding, recitation and memorization of the Quran and learning the Arabic language. Al-Rasheed Academy also strives to exceed the New York State formal education standards while encouraging the total development of each student.

This mission began by concerned parents who wanted a better alternative for their children’s education.  In 2009 a group of parents got together to combine their efforts and work towards creating an Islamic educational environment which will allow for better future development of their children and their community. We are now proud to say that we are able to fulfill our dream; we have established a fulltime Islamic School Al-Rasheed Academy.

Al-Rasheed Academy was formed to provide a link between secular and religious education, and to keep the students in touch with their religious and cultural background. Now we have fulltime teachers and a complete curriculum that satisfies New York State education requirements, and teaches Quran, Islamic Studies, and Arabic language.

Our goal is to:

Al Rasheed Academy will provide each student with a Safe, Healthy, Nurturing, and Islamic learning environment facilitated by skilled, creative, and highly motivated professionals who promote lifelong learning.

Philosophy Statement
The education of the students at Al Rasheed Academy is the responsibility of the entire community. We believe that the children of the community are the most important resource and future leaders. It is important that we encourage students to develop good Islamic characteristics, citizenship, high moral standards, and positive self-esteem.
We recognize that we exist in a worldwide community and that our educational program must reflect global needs. Our goal is to provide a positive Islamic learning environment that challenges students to grow mentally, academically, physically, and socially while ultimately preparing students to become productive members of the society.
